The Southern Kitchen

Hi, everyone!

As you might already know, my name is Holly, and as I am experimenting with recipes for this blog, I am also running farmers' markets all across Northern Virginia (or NOVA) throughout the spring, summer, and fall.

I enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables immensely; I can only hope that you all feel the same way. Local is always the freshest and best for you. A lot of times, it's cheaper, too!

Supporting small-scale family farms is also important. The number and size of these farms are decreasing rapidly across the United States and are, unfortunately, being replaced by industrial farms where the grower doesn't even know or care about the consumer.

Not only are you supporting your better health and the local economy when you purchase these foods, you are continuing a tradition that is enriched in the heritage, culture, and society of the American South.

Of course, we all know that the best food comes from the South. However, I have taken recipes from around the world and have meshed them with their own unique southern flair. These recipes come from my own experimentation, my fantastic cook of a mother, family friends, and customers that share their recipes with us (C & T Produce).

I hope that you enjoy them as much as we have!
